Traffic Safety Education before Examination
The traffic safety education is carried out before the written test at a Traffic Safety Education Center at an examination office or a location
(driving school) designated as a traffic safety educational institute.

Physical Examination
Since the Gangneung, Taebaek, Mungyeong, Chuncheon examination offices do not have a Health Check Center, applicants must take the health check
at a nearby hospital.

Apply for Written Exam
Applicants must complete the traffic safety education before applying for the written exam

Applicants can apply between 09:00 -17:00 on weekdays at Driver's License Examination Offices nationwide. The PC Written Exam is taken
on the same day the application is received.

Take Driving Course Test
- Passing criterion
- - 80 points or higher for Class 1 Large, Class 1 General, or Class 2 General
- - 90 points or higher for Class 1 Special, Class 2 Small, or Class 2 motorized bicycle
- Note
- - The applicant must pass the driving course test within one year from the date of passing the written exam.
- - The existing application is disposed of after one year, and the applicant must start from the written exam but does not have to take the traffic safety education again.
- - The validity period of the application is one year, and in cases where the applicant has received a practice license
for Class 1 and Class 2 General, it is the same as the validity period of that practice license.
- Retest if failed- Applicants who fail the driving course test (including a failed test at a driving school) can take the test again after
three days.
Practice License Issued
- Eligibility- Applicants for the Classs 1 and 2 General license who passed the aptitude test, written exam, and the driving
course test (skill examination for the applicants who have completed the certified driving school).

- Calculation of
validity period for
exchange of
a student license- A practice license is valid for one year. If a holder of a practice license
for Class 1 downgrades to a practice license for Class 2, the validity period for the new practice license is the remaining validity period of the initially issued practice license.
Apply for On-Road Driving Exam
The holder of a practice license receives the date and period of the On-Road Driving Exam.

Take On-Road Driving Exam
The holder of a practice license receives the date and period of the On-Road Driving Exam
- Passing criterion - 70 points or higher
- Note
- - The applicant must pass the On-Road Driving Exam within the validity period (one year from the date of issuance) of the practice license.
- - The applicant cannot apply for the On-Road Driving Exam after the practice license is expired and thus must retake the Written Exam and Driving Course Test. However, the applicant does not have to take the traffic safety education again.
- Retest if failed- An applicant who fails the On-Road Driving Exam (including a failed test at a driving school).can take the test again after three days.
Driver's License Issued
The applicant who passes all tests for the applied license type (Class 1 Large, Class 1 General, Class 1 Special, Class 2 General, Class 2 Small, and Class 2 Motorized Bicycle) is issued the applicable license.

- - Class 1 or 2 General: The license is issued to an applicant who passes the On-Road Driving Exam (on-road driving
skill test for an applicant who has completed a certified driving school program).
- - Other licenses: The license is issued to an applicant who passes the Written Exam and Driving Course Test.
